Glad you are alive, Kipsy.
After spending, as you know, $2500 on my 2001 Prius less than a month ago, it stopped working. Latest diagnosis? Catastrophic failure of the hybrid battery system. Cost for parts alone? $4900.
Kind of amazing, isn't it?
I have decided I don't need a car for the next month. I'll just take buses around town until I go to Texas next month, and I'll fly down there with Roothy (the Cat). Momcat said I could use her car while I am there. Maybe I'll buy a new car while I'm down there, and drive back.
Would anyone like to buy a large, green paperweight?

I am so glad I got a plain old ugly hybrid Civic!
ReplyDeleteYou should look into the new Insight that just came out.
Be very careful of buying a car in Texas and trying to take it home. When I was working at Grubbs Nissan, there was a case of someone who was moving to California, so she bought a car in Texas and took it with her, and California wouldn't register it because, being from Texas, it didn't have all the nifty smog removers. As I recall there was a lot of discussion about it. I don't know what she ended up doing, but I imagine she had to sell her car in Texas and buy another one in Ca, or be illegally registered in Texas but living in Ca.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... thanks for the warning. I think Cali. might be unique in that regard, but I will double check.
ReplyDeleteI'm leaning, though, toward buying one here after all. Turns out being without a car for a month isn't quite the picnic I thought it would be (she says, preparing to carry twenty pounds of stuff on the bus, after which she has to walk a mile in the rain to work...)
