Auto litter box

I'm thinking of getting an automated litter box. I tried one before, but the real Kipsy was bad about peeing on the edge of the box. The sweeper really only picks up clumps in the box away from the edge. I'm hoping it will work better with the current cohort if kitties. Anybody else tried one? Is it worth it?

  1. Ann Richards has one. Honestly, I don't really think they are an advantage. The kitties do tend to pee on the side, meaning you end up having to scoop some anyway, and they are a bear to do a good cleaning of--which you have to do more often with the automatic.

Then again, I've only ever had a max of two cats, which means as long as I am religious about cleaning it once a day, it's fine.

If I were to go the "automatic" route (and I had the space, which I don't), I'd try the CatGenie: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=bl_sr_kitchen?ie=UTF8&search-alias=pet-supplies&field-brandtextbin=CatGenie . However, I honestly think its just easiest to get in the habit. I clear the litter before I leave for work in the morning (right after feeding the cat). If I had more than one cat, I'd probably also clean a second time either upon arriving home, or more likely, before going to bed.

  2. I've had one. I always got a face full of dirty litter when I had to change out the plastic recepticle. (also, you have to keep buying the recepticles.
